We exist because generalists don’t cut it

To show you why, let’s travel back to 1996.

At the time, 2 major pharma companies needed help translating critical documentation. But they weren’t sure how to do it, who to work with, or whether anyone would be up to the job. And being large organisations, they weren’t set up to work directly with freelancers. So they approached our founder, Simon Andriesen.

A problem without a solution

Simon was a veteran of the translation industry. He knew the pharma documents were complex. He also knew a hold-up or mistake could cost millions. This was no time for generalists to try their hand at it. What Simon needed was specialist medical translators who’d get it right first time.

Unfortunately, translation agencies back then lacked the knowledge and interest to tackle these crucial translations.

A medical translation agency to the rescue

So Simon founded his own medical translation company. For the pharma companies, MediLingua let them harness the knowledge of freelance medical translators. It also let them work with a single provider no matter the language or type of document they needed to translate.

And it gave the pharma companies reassurance. Because MediLingua had the experts to translate even the most challenging healthcare documents.

How we serve your sector

More than 28 years later, MediLingua is still the medical translation agency of the biggest names in healthcare. We help companies like yours in 2 main ways:

Translation

Since 1996, we translate technical, regulatory, clinical trial, and marketing documents into all the major languages. This lets you market your products and reach HCPs and patients almost anywhere in the world.

Readability

Since 2005, we fine-tune labels, package leaflets and SSCPs so that they are easy to read for a lay audience. We also test user manuals to make sure HCPs, technicians and patients can safely use your product or device.

Do you fit the bill?

We mostly work with pharmaceuticals, dental companies, medical device manufacturers and research organisations.

We fit into your existing workflows if you’re an established organisation. But we can also guide you if you’re a start-up. We’ve helped create multi-language materials for hundreds and hundreds of healthcare products.

Far beyond your average medical translation company

Quality process

Our ISO-certified quality control process means you can confidently use our translations in regulatory submissions. Get consistent, traceable medical translations for product approval, launch and post-marketing surveillance.

Medical expertise

For more than 28 years, we’ve worked with healthcare companies only to fast-track our specialist knowledge. The result is a translation you can rely on, with shorter turnarounds and expert results first time.

Agile size

With a team of around 20, we’re big enough to handle large multi-language projects. But small enough to keep things simple. As regulations evolve and your needs change, this simplicity lets us pivot alongside you.

FAQs

Decisions are never easy. Especially with the investment that’s at stake in launching your product. Here is some additional information to help. If there’s anything you’re unsure of, ask our project managers directly.

Do you only do translation?

Medical translation is our main thing. But this includes more services than you might think. We translate written documents of all kinds, from regulatory and technical to marketing and educational. But we also translate video content, especially subtitles, narration and on-screen text.

We also do readability and usability testing. For example, we help pharma companies produce readability test reports for their MA applications. We also work with medical device manufacturers to ensure their IFUs are easy to follow.

As AI becomes a growing part of our lives, we test AI-generated translations for quality and safety.

In addition, clients regularly ask us to transfer our translation and editing skills to medical writing and medical transcription jobs. If you’ve questions about our services, email us.

How do you keep my documents safe?

If there is one sector where confidentiality is paramount, it’s healthcare. After all, your document may contain personal data or intellectual property that you must protect.

With us, your documents are in safe hands. We are fully GDPR-compliant. We share files securely using SharePoint. We detect and prevent network intrusion using a fully managed Unifi USG Pro firewall along with active monitoring of our security logging.

Additionally, every freelance translator signs a confidentiality agreement. If you’d like further reassurance about our confidentiality policy, contact us.

My documents are very technical. Do you really have the expertise to translate them?

As a medical translation agency, we can call on specialised project managers and expert freelance translators in every conceivable sector and discipline of healthcare. So no matter what document you have for us, we can find the expert to match.

That said, we do specialise in 4 areas of healthcare. These are medicines, clinical trials, medical devices and dental implants. If your document is in our areas of expertise, we’ve got a team that’s specially for you.

Are your translations accepted by regulatory authorities?

They certainly are. We’re certified to ISO 17100 and 9001. We can also issue our proprietary translation certificate as an added guarantee. Anything we translate for you can be submitted to the FDA, EMA or Notified Bodies.

Can you guarantee that there will be no errors?

Our multi-step quality control process minimises the risk of mistakes by putting your document in the hands of up to 5 separate specialists. Our project managers are experts in your sector, documentation and needs. Our translators are specialists in healthcare as well as in their native language and culture.

Through our process, we keep the risk of mistakes as low as human expertise, language technology and an ironclad process can make it.
